Affinity Fire Engineering is a specialised fire safety consultancy firm servicing a diverse range of clients and sectors throughout the UK & Ireland. We have open vacancies available in London and Cheltenham offices and are looking for proactive and experienced Fire Engineers to join the team.

As a member of our team, you will be required to undertake fire engineering projects including supporting design projects both within and outside of the UK. The work will be technical in nature with a mixture of desktop activities as well as off-site activities and supported client interaction. You will carry out reviews of design projects on the initial stage to more advanced projects, whilst also supporting the fire engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production of fire strategy reports and other relevant documentation as and when required.
  • Reviewing architectural drawings to determine potential fire strategy approval risks and opportunities to add value.
  • Calculations of evacuation times - Means of Escape Analysis.
  • Computational Evacuation Modelling Analysis.
  • Solve, with support, fire engineering calculations including radiant heat, smoke control and occupant evacuations.
  • Communicate the intended fire strategy to the design team and client through phone calls, emails and meetings as appropriate.
  • Third Party Review/Design Verification.
  • Assessment and understanding of the main UK fire safety legislation and standards applied to buildings.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in Fire Engineering or equivalent Engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working as a Fire Engineer within a Fire Safety Engineering team.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory controls and a proven ability to develop and implement fire engineered design solutions in the built environment.
  • A working understanding of ADB, BS 9999 and BS 9991.
